The W65C02S is a low power 8-bit microprocessor utilized in a vast array of products for the automotive, consumer, industrial and medical markets. This chip feasures a full external 8-bit data bus and 16-bit address bus for easy integration with 8-bit peripherals and memory.

    Direct replacement for 65C02
    These components have a CMOS compatible interface pins and can be used to replace standard 6502 processors.

    Differences between standard 6502 and new WDC W65C02:
    Difference 1 --
    Pin 1 of original 6502 was connected to ground.
    Pin 1 of W65C02S6TPG-14 is an output and should be disconnected from ground.

    Difference 2 --
    Pin 36 of original 6502 was not used.
    Pin 1 of W65C02S6TPG-14 is a "Bus Enable" input and should be tied to VCC using a pullup resistor.
    This is easily accomplished by installing a pullup resistor between pins 8 and 36 or between VCC and pin 36.

    Difference 3 --
    The interface pins are 'nearly' TTL compatible. Inputs levels for standard TTL:
    VIH = 2.4V min, VIL = 0.8V max
    Input levels for W65C02S6TPG-14:
    VIH = (5 * 0.7)= 3.5V min, VIL = (5 * 0.3) = 1.5V max
    VIH may be in violation for some designs

    Due to voltage differences - peripherals and/or logic may need to be updated to newer components (e.g. HCT logic) to function properly.
